Humans are supple and weak when living,

But hard and stiff when dead.

Grass and trees are pliant and fragile when living,

But dried and shrivelled when dead.

Thus the hard and the strong

Are the comrades of death;

The supple and the weak

Are the comrades of life.

Therefore a weapon that is strong

Will not vanquish;

A tree that is strong

Will suffer the axe.

The strong and big

Take the lower position,

The supple and weak

Take the higher position.

– A great Poem by the Chinese Philosopher Lao Tzu depicting tenderness & flexibility as the attributes of life. Quite often, we tend to appreciate rigidity & sternness as the admirable qualities, & tend to make our kids bold & strong ‘coz we know that pains & aches are part of life… we don’t want them to suffer by being vulnerable……

We hide our sentiments & feelings before others… We don’t like to expose our softness.. we don’t like our tears to be seen.. so we cry in darkness in our privacy.. We feel expressing feelings is weakness…

We forget that we always like soft & tender things, rather we try to be hard & tough, or pretend so… But, sensitivity, mildness, softness, etc are what makes humans lively, lovely & memorable… So, lets not be deprived of our human qualities!!

The book salesman should be honoured

‘Coz he brings to our attention,as a rule,

The very books we need most and neglect most.

Life is just like that.

We learn the greatest lessons

From the silliest & simplest matters

Which are the most likely to be ignored..

We can better learn

THe values of Sincerity, Love

& Innocence from our kids..

One can never leave home. Each person carries the shadows, the dreams, the fears and the dragons of home under one’s skin, at the extreme corners of one’s eyes and possibly in the gristle of the earlobe.

What’s there in a relationship

That remains standstill

Like water in a pond

Lacking even ripples?

Or a car moving jerklessly

Along a smooth road

It would leave the partners indolent

There should be waves & tides

Jerks, bounces & quivers

Heated exchanges, anger & madness

Along with consideration, affection,

Buoyancy, dandle, passion, possessiveness,

& all the ingredients in right proportions..

Submissiveness is not a virtue

Nor is domination a privilege

A docile companion may

Ensure smooth proceedings

But would never be treated a true friend

A relation would make sense

Only when feelings are expressed

Identities are accepted

Emotions are perceived

& true friendship is ensured

Some books are …

Published May 19, 2012 by aquaturtleme

Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.

– Francis Bacon (Jan 1561 – April 1626)

I feel so special being a lady

The Lord’s tenderest creation

With a very tender and delicate mind

Ebbing & flowing for

A small pussy left alone in the street

A street dog stoned

A hungry  old man

Laying in corner of a railway station

A homeless mother trying to protect her baby

An insane girl thrown in the street

A small boy who has no friends

An old woman waiting in a faraway land

For her children & their kids to come home

A cancer patient struggling with pain

A mother who has lost her son

A soldier’s wife watching news

with trembling heart

An innocent victim in the jail

A girl molested

A fearful woman

almost running in the dark

to reach her abode

A labour injured in a construction site

Lone survivor of a tsunami

A cheated wife

A suspicious man

An abandoned baby

A child trapped by a beggar gang

A tortured kid

An accident victim

& so so many in trouble

In similar & varied situations…

All humans feel for all these

But being a lady

Leaves me much more sensitive

And empathic to these situations

‘Coz a woman is the softest creation of God

Leave alone the so many

Exceptions available in nature

On many an idle day have I grieved over lost time.

But it is never lost, my lord.
Thou hast taken every moment of my life in thine own hands.

Hidden in the heart of things thou art nourishing seeds into sprouts,
buds into blossoms, and ripening flowers into fruitfulness.

I was tired and sleeping on my idle bed
and imagined all work had ceased.

In the morning I woke up
and found my garden full with wonders of flowers.

– A simple poem by Rabindra Nath Tagore, which was a great relief, to a guilty feel of being too lazy

Essence of Trust!!

Published May 16, 2012 by aquaturtleme

A little girl and her father were crossing a bridge.
The father was kind of scared so he asked his little daughter:
“Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don’t fall into the river.” The little girl said:
“No, Dad. You hold my hand.”

“What’s the difference?” Asked the puzzled father.

“There’s a big difference,” replied the little girl.
“If I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens, you will never let my hand go.”

In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond. So hold the hand of the person whom you love rather than expecting them to hold yours..
